Manchester City launch ‘fresh legal assault’ in APT ‘war’ with Premier League: ‘Financial rules in disarray’

Man City twist as reigning Prem champions launch new legal action claiming rules ‘discriminate’ against them

Manchester City have launched a fresh legal challenge against the Premier League’s amended Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules, claiming they continue to discriminate against certain clubs.

The four-time consecutive champions have submitted a comprehensive document attacking the revised regulations

This marks City’s second legal assault on the APT rules, following their victory last year when a tribunal ruled the original regulations contravened competition law.

The APT rules seek to ensure deals struck between clubs and entities link to the club’s owners done at fair market value.

City challenged the rules on competition law grounds and in October last year an arbitration panel ruled aspects of the APT rules were unlawful, among them the exclusion of shareholder loans from the fair market value test.

City argue the ruling rendered all แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ the APT regulations void, whereas the Premier League position has always been that the ruling only required it to remedy discrete elements of the rules – something it felt it achieved with the amendments approved by 16 of its 20 clubs last November.
